Fun Committee
ACE is not just about book learning; it’s also about building a community of learners. ACE teachers and parents often say it is an extended family. The Fun Committee hosts four social events each year that support that sense of community. The committee kicks off the school year with a root beer float social, followed by a Fall Harvest Festival in late October. Just before Christmas break, the committee hosts a pajama breakfast party. Finally, there is an end of the year party for all ACE families to enjoy.
This year’s committee co-chair, Sarah Walberg, says she is pleased with the community business’s response to donation requests for party supplies. ACE’s non-profit status helps, says Walberg.
With only two committee members this year, volunteers are always needed! The committee sends out flyers and posts sign-up forms several weeks before each party. ACE families can earn volunteer hours by doing at-home decorating work, shopping for supplies and participating on party days.
